The Summers Family and the Catoctin Furnace Cemetery

The Summers family was recently reunited with an ancestor buried in the Catoctin Furnace cemetery. The toddler was a half sister or first cousin to Hanson Summers. This discovery is the culmination of more than 10 years of research to definitively link living African American families to the previously unknown individuals buried in the Catoctin Furnace cemetery utilizing Identical by Descent (IBD) DNA analysis.
