Registration for Plein Air Painting at The Maryland Iron Festival
Plein Air at the Maryland Iron Festival!
May 21-22, 2022
We invite artists to paint from life at the Maryland Iron Festival in the historic ironmaking village of Catoctin Furnace. The annual free festival celebrates Frederick County’s history as an early center for ironmaking. The event will feature live blacksmithing demonstrations, an artist and maker market, hands-on casting and molding demonstrations, live iron pouring, guided tours, children’s activities, plein air artists, live music, log hewing, food trucks, a beer and wine garden, and much, much more.
The Museum of the Ironworker will be open! Check-in and canvas stamping for Plein Air will be in a tent at the museum (12610 Catoctin Furnace Road, Thurmont, MD 21788) from 8-10am Saturday May 21 and Sunday May 22. Framed paintings will be received at tent after 2pm Sunday for a 3pm show (and sales). Please bring your own easel.
There is limited registration (Advance registration recommended) for the plein air event and a $15.00 Entry Fee.
